Devon Kirkpatrick is a Full Sail University Valedictorian graduate who got his start in New York City studios. He worked at Unique Recording in 1996 before moving on to Sony Music Studios from 1997-1999. In 1999 he moved back to his home town of Baton Rouge, LA and started building Sockit Studio. In 2007 he became a regional mentor for the Recording Connection. Devon mentored through their program at Sockit Studio for over 18 years. He has taught and mentored over one hundred studio staff engineers and students. Devon's engineering and assisting project involvement encompasses 5 GRAMMY wins, 13 GRAMMY nominations and multi-platinum album projects totaling more than 50 million units sold in the United States.
Sockit Studio was founded in 1999 and has risen as the sum of education and experience of its owner and head engineer Devon Kirkpatrick. Sockit was the first commercial Digital Audio Workstation & Pro Tools based studio in Baton Rouge. It has been home to over 60 staff members as well as many freelance engineers & producers over the years. Sockit Studio has two GRAMMY nominations and has been a part of numerous Billboard charting songs. After flooding with over three feet of water in 2016, the studio was rebuilt under the guidance of world renowned studio designer Russ Berger.
